Mindfulness....why all the fuss?

The next events are two mindfulness mornings to be held in Presteigne at the 'Retreat'. These are suitable for newcomers as well as those with some experience of Mindfulness. A chance to practice and explore Mindfulness. I aim to make the mornings both relaxing and stimulating! There will be a Mindful tea/coffee break!

Saturday June 16th 9.30-12 noon: ‘Learning to choose’

Saturday July 7th 9.30-12 noon: ‘Moving in to Mindfulness’

Cost £20 per morning, book for one or both

Mindfulness helps us to draw back a curtain within ourselves so as to reveal a new way of seeing and being, beyond the way we habitually behave and define ourselves.. Mindful awareness can change the way we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us. Mindfulness is a quality of both head and heart, which possesses a curiosity and warmth towards ourselves and our experience. Mindful awareness has the quality of allowing us to develop a broader, steadier relationship with our changing experience so that we have more choice and perspective on how we choose to act. It teaches us that it is the way we react to situations that can increase the levels of distress, anxiety, sadness and pain that we experience. It encourages us to change the relationship that we have with the present moment (the only moment there is) allowing us to react in new ways that leave us feeling less the victim of circumstance. We can become ‘creatures of choice rather than creatures of knee-jerk reactions! We can experience  brighter, clearer states of mind that connect us positively to our emotions and body. It can enable us to feel more grounded and relaxed.

Effects of mindfulness

Ability to deal with difficulties and pain with less stress
Improved communication
Learn to distinguish between useful and unhelpful thinking!
Choose to react in new ways
Experience the richness of this moment
Increased understanding of others
Increased feelings of authenticity & congruence

I am an accredited Breathworks trainer and run  8 week mindfulness for stress courses in North Herefordshire and Powys. I am also accredited to run their mindfulness for Health course. I adhere to the good practice guidelines agreed by the Uk network for mindfulness-based teacher trainers.

Research has shown that mindfulness can reduce stress, depression, anxiety and help with conditions such as chronic pain and illness.
